My suggestion is that you filter the posts to be displayed in the Family Members page within the Family category.

From your description it sounds like what you want is to add users in wordpress (under the Users menu) and then set these users to be Editors or Authors thereby letting them edit the posts. It sounds like you want the information to be separated between users and this plugin won't help with that I am afraid.
