EEDA - Rising to the Challenge East

East of England Development Agency (EEDA) - "Nations and Regions East commissioned Esscotti to design and implement a website in Nov/Dec 2009. We work within a complex regional structure and we needed a multi functional website that could be used by a whole host of different stakeholders with different interests and information needs. Esscotti were able to create a website that simply met these requirements.

We were really pleased with the overall look of the website, the time it took to deliver and the cost effective nature of the project. The website and the functions recommended by Esscotti has allowed us to streamline the work that we do and the website really has become a hub for all our marketing and promotion activity."

Web development for the British Neuroscience Association

This website was built to meet the specific needs of the British Neuroscience Association. It offers a content management system that helps administrators manage the information on the site and it enables BNA members to log in and publish their own events and job adverts.

The website is also used to manage the BNA E.bulletin. BNA members can subscribe to the E.bulletin by registering for an account on the site.

The following modules make up the BNA website:

  • News publishing
  • Events publishing
  • Events registrations (and payment)
  • External events publishing
  • Membership database
  • E-bulletins
  • Payments and Invoicing
  • Website user accounts management

Web development was done by Esscotti Ltd using PHP and the site runs in a Linux/Apache/MySQL environment.

All pages served to a client user are SSL encrypted when that user has logged in.

Payments for event registrations and invoices are securely processed through Paypal.

Websites for charities

The Dorfred Charitable Trust, which provides support for aid projects in the third world, asked us to set up a website to provide information about funded projects, application procedure and news updates. Our quotes are always extremely competitive whch is ideal for charities that are careful not to incur overhead costs.

By providing a website the charity can now reach to a wider audience of applicants who require funding for third-world projects.

We propsed a style that was simple, effective and future proof. The logo was provided by the client and although the site is plain white the images on the site add lots of colour. All images are from projects that have received aid from the Dorfred Charitable Trust. The text on the website was provided by the charity thus further keeping the cost down. We registered www.dorfred-trust.org.uk and set up the hosting for the site.

In the end our client was very pleased to have a good looking website at a fraction of the cost they had expected.

Fiftyone – Cambridge Bed and Breakfast

We completed a website for the new "Fiftyone" bed and breakfast in cambridge. To get something up quickly was the most important requirement so we proposed making a straight-forward Wordpress template based site with some text, photos, and contact details. The simplicity meant that the website could be developed quickly and as a result it was delivered at a cost that the client was very happy with.

Very soon after the website was published the bed and breakfast started to receive enquiries and bookings. The website now has a healthy number of monthly visitors resulting in a steady stream of paying customers. We continuously monitor search terms that site visitors use and are very pleased that the generic terms "cambridge bed and breakfast" are used in Google to reach the site. This means that the site owner can spend less on direct advertising, knowing that people can find them through searching in Google.

Getting a good looking, functional website up quickly at low cost is a good first step - and once the B&B becomes established we can work to develop the website further.
